Confab, more than anything, made me realize that this discipline is at a critical juncture. It’s either going to gel or descend into chaos. But I’m pretty sure it’ll be the former rather than the latter, and I want to be there to see it happen.
Plus, there’s this exhibit at the British Museum I really want to see.
So I bit the bullet and made some very precarious travel plans so I can get to CS Forum, attend a wedding in Brooklyn, attend another conference in Indianapolis, and then finally head home and collapse.
Yes, it’s expensive. It’s far away for those of us stateside. If your company isn’t footing the bill, it may be a stretch. But I’m pretty sure this year’s event is going to be uh-may-zing.
If you missed Confab, this is your chance to get up close and personal with folks who are shaping the field in a rather intimate setting. If you did go to Confab, this is your opportunity to strengthen those connections – and to hear from some new voices (there are lots).
Ultimately, when it’s right, it’s right. So consider carefully: Are you committed to content strategy? Are you in serious need of inspiration from and connection with others who share this peculiar affliction? Is your passport gathering dust?
If so, perhaps you should throw caution and credit card bills to the wind, too…and soon, because standard registration ends on August 1. I’ll even buy you a beer if you do.*
*But only if you order a real ale, not a Newcastle or some other nonsense you can get anywhere. Trust me on this.
